Our Image of the month competition  

You’ve got to be in it to win it!”

This months fabulous prize is a fashionable  'Slippy Fish' Laptop Shoulder Bag which retails for around £99. Having been hand-made by Crumpler you can be assured of the quality – It is made from a tough durable fabric with a waterproof ripstop lining, has integrated back padding and and adjustable shoulder strap. It's suitable for laptops up to around 14" or can be used in numerous other ways.

You also have the chance each month to see if you can get a coveted Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Bar from the Guild and win the above fabulous prize by becoming the Guild's National Award Winning Photographer of the Month!!

Further, all the overall winning entries will be compared in January 2011 to choose the Guild's 'Image Of The Year' for 2010. The competition also has various other titles at stake -  'Guild' s National Photographer Of The Year 2010', 'Guild Wedding Photographer Of  The Year 2010' and 'Guild Professional Photographer Of The Year 2010' (the Professional section covering all areas except Weddings). These are very prestigious title's to hold 'worth their weight in Gold!

Every month the best submissions from each section will also be our Images Of the Month on our front page and the overall winner will get the competition prize.

Remember in a winning entry we are looking for a mixture of skill combined with imagination so winners are likely to be images that quite simply ‘grab us’! Those who score a Bronze Bar or above will get certification in their name recognising their achievement and the very best few images will go the front page of the website for the following month.


All entries will be assessed and graded as follows -

Platinum bar images will speak for themselves and be truely awesome

Gold bar images are those of a truely exceptional standard at professional competition level and so will be very rare

Silver bar rated images are those of a very high standard at professional competition level and are very difficult to achieve

Bronze bar rated images are those of a high standard at professional competition level so is something to be proud of.

Unclassified images are those which fall below the high level national competition standards we have imposed (but are still likely to be of a good standard) so don't be too disapointed if you get one of these.

Those that are participating in the League by submitting entries each month between now and the end of 2010 will be scored as follows…Platinum, 5pts, Gold 3pts, Silver 2pts, Bronze 1pt…A bonus of 1pt will be offered to any image selected as an Image of the month (the Runners-Up) and the overall winner will get a bonus of 2pts. 

Whether you want to enter for the prize, the acknowledgement of being an ‘Award winning photographer’, for personal satisfaction or for fun…Give it a go!

Each competition will be judged during the first week of each month so your entries need to be received by the last day of the proceeding month. It is open to members only and will run until 30 Sept 2010.

The cost of entry to cover administration, postage and certification where applicable is just £5 per image or £12.50 for 3 images. An entrant can enter a maximum of 3 images in each category each month. If you send in more than 3 entries we need to know which 3 of your images will count towards our end of year titles when you submit them!

Terms and Conditions of all entries

The entrant must have captured the actual image and any digital manipulation must have been done by them.

Images are to be submitted electronically to sthirsk@tiscali.co.uk clearly identified as ‘Guild Competition entry’ & state the category entered. They must be of a file size no greater than 1mb  and there must be no identifying marks on or attached to the entry

Any Images submitted for Guild competitions must have appropriate modelling consent and not violate copyright, trademarks, intellectual copyright or any other applicable law.

Submitted images may be used for promotional use by the Guild in any publication, printed item or electronic media.

Certification is issued to the photographers who recieve a Bronze Bar or above.

The Guild reserves the right to change or modify the rules without notice.
